PRP for Hair Loss is carried out by Dr Joney De Souza at his clinic in London. During this treatment small amounts of your own blood will be taken and processed in a centrifuge which will separate the red blood cells from the platelet rich plasma. The platelet rich plasma, which is a concentrated formula of your own platelets rich in growth factors, is then injected into the treatment area. These growth factors are needed to repair the body, but are also valuable tools to fight the signs of ageing.

PRP (platelet-rich plasma) for hair loss is a treatment utilising plasma prepared from the patient’s own blood. The platelet rich plasma contains growth factors and bioactive proteins (globulin, albumin, fibrinogen), nutrients, vitamins, hormones and electrolytes which speed up tissue repair and regeneration. Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is a by-product of blood (plasma) that is rich in platelets.
Dr Joney De Souza will take a small amount of your blood and place this in a centrifuge to separate the red blood cells from the platelet rich plasma containing growth factors. The plasma is then re-injected into treatment area – it can be administered either in multiple micro-injections, like Mesotherapy or Dermal Hydrating Treatments, directly into lines and wrinkles, like a filler, or deeper into the dermis, like a volumiser.
The process should be no more painful than any other injectable procedure, but the treatment area might be numbed beforehand with a topical local anaesthetic cream. Some practitioners combine this with other ‘self-heal’ treatments, like Medical Micro-Needling to enhance the results.
There might be a small amount of redness or swelling at injection site, but this should fade quickly. You might also have some bruising where the blood was taken, but again this won’t last. One thing to avoid is taking aspirin or any anti-inflammatory drugs. This isn’t a one-off treatment – a course of treatments is usually recommended and it might take up to six months for the results of platelet rich plasma therapy to show, but the real benefit is that they should be permanent.
